But then about Wednesday, at least recently, real life kicks in. As of late these distractions have taken the form of the flu, colds, viruses, and snow days. Take this week for instance. Meet this week's training journal:
- Sunday: long runs for both Jason and Nikki; Nikki--lift
- Monday: Nikki--early swim; Jason--evening swim
- Tuesday: Nikki--early bike; Jason--group bike @ night
- Wednesday: Nikki--early swim; Jason--night swim
- Thursday: Nikki--
early bike & liftflu symptoms in the early AM--sleep trumped a workout; Jason--night bike with group - Friday: Nikki--
early swim; afternoon runsleep once again trumped workouts with persistent unwellness; Jason--mid-day swimopts to watch kids so Nikki can attempt to catch up on income-earning work; notices the beginning of flu symptoms - Saturday: Jason-
Long bike--survive full-blown stomach bug; Nikki--long bike--Keep Jason hydrated & take care of busy kids - Sunday: long runs for both of us; Nikki--lift
Still, we both readily recognize that what we do today will eventually pay off this summer. As a friend of mine told me last week, we're banking some cash that we plan on pulling out in July, August, and September. Hopefully we can put some major deposits in this week. :-)
